Dear OVP Forum Member,

Update #4

Thank you for your continued interest in Open Virtual Platforms - here is a brief update - for more information, please visit the site, and download the latest release for more information.

We now have almost 1,000 registered users who have downloaded / viewed over 16,000 files/videos/presentations including over 800 copies of the simulator package. There are now almost 40 companies involved or supportive of OVP and there are models for processors from ARM, MIPS, OpenCores, Tensilica, and ARC and platforms booting single and multicore SMP Linux.

There has been recent news from several OVP supporters - from Sibridge Technologies with a USB example, Posedge Software with an interface to Cadence's Incisive Software eXtensions (ISX) product, and Imperas with their OVP software verification tools being released for early adopters under a beta programme.

Also users have provided more feedback of using the OVP fast CPU models in SystemC TLM2.0 platforms and also feedback from companies building their own processors, peripherals and platforms.

A new release of OVP went live in late March09 and this included the following changes, enhancements, new features:
First release of a new OVP API to enable access to Progammers View of behavioral components.
Changes to the toolchains available for ARM models.
Inclusion of Linux toolchains support for MIPS, ARM, OR1K models - to enable Imperas Linux users to easily access tool chains.
Additional vendor verified models of 34K multicore MIPS processor, and ARC 605 core of the ARC International 6XX family.
There has also been ongoing maintenance work on peripheral models to get them ready for an update to the OVP support of processor endianess.

For more information, the release includes a detailed changelog.ovp.txt file.

So please do come and visit www.OVPworld.org, have a look at the new technology, catch up with items on the forum, and ask any questions you have and of course, download the latest release - it is always best to be using the latest release.

Thank you for your support and interest.
